Suhail is fifteen and a half. He is the first person in his family — biological or chosen — to study past Class 8.
He decided, one Tuesday afternoon in seventh grade, that he was going to be a doctor. He did not announce it. He just stopped doing the bare minimum and started turning in extra work, in pencil, on the same lined paper everyone else used.
His biology teacher noticed within a month. We noticed within two.
“I am not the smartest in my class. But I am the most stubborn. I have done the math on that. Stubborn beats smart over twelve years of medical school.”
Suhail
He is now in Class 10. He is scoring 88+ in Science and Math. He has a target of 92 by the boards. He has visited the AIIMS campus twice and can tell you which hostel block houses the medical undergraduates.
He will get there. The maths is the easy part.
