Sangeeta arrived at Dream Village in 2022. She had spent fifteen years on GB Road. She was tired in a way that did not have a word for it.
She started in the Maitri Meals kitchen as one of ten women learning to cook for orders. Within four months she was teaching the new arrivals. Within a year she was running the kitchen. Today she manages a weekly catering schedule for a Delhi co-working space, three suppliers, and a roster of ten women whose Sunday-off requests cross her desk first.
“I spent fifteen years being told what to do by men who were paying me. Now I tell ten women what to do, and they get paid by me. The difference is the whole world.”

When we printed business cards, we asked her what title she wanted on hers. She thought about it for a long minute. Then she said, simply, 'Leader.'
Her business card now says Leader. She carries them in a small embroidered pouch in her dupatta. She gives them to people at the co-working space when she goes to deliver tiffins.
